Paint:
The handpole and hood need fresh paint. I figured now would be a good time to paint the bottom of the ski. A decade of abuse and my bro letting it fall out of his truck really messed up the bottom. I epoxied three large gouges, but didn't mess with the 1/16" scrapes all over it.
A few parts that were removed.
These two pictures were taken before I started to sand. The only good paint was beneath the factory Yamaha sticker.
The paint came off quickly with 60 grit sandpaper. I finished with 320. One of the gouges is visible near my one-way.
Taped off and ready for paint.
I dropped screws in all the threaded holes. I also applied grease to the stainless exhaust ring so the paint wouldn't stick. Two 10x20 drop-cloths were used for the paint booth and floor, a third was used to mask the top of the hull.
I wiped down the hull with acetone at least 5 times.
Almost finished. It turned out pretty nice compared to what is was. I applied 6 coats over a 3 hour time period. The paint needs to cure for a few days before wet sanding.
